LOAN TO BRITAIN Received Friday, 9.50 p.m. WASHINGTON, March 15. Mr; Russell Smith, secretary of thc National Farmers' Union, told th. Senate Banking Committee that tlm union iraci approveu oi ihe proposo,. credit to Britain virtuaily unanimousiy at its recent convention as an essentia! start toward the permanent declaration of economic peace. He added thai members recognised the stake of Ameri can farmers in a widened world trade Mr. Ralph Flinders, chairman of thc Research Committee for Economic Development, told the committee tha. the passage of the loan and the c'on sequent removal of Empire trade restrictions might be the ttrst of c series of successful engagements in friendly competition with the Sovie Union for the wellbeing of the world Mr. Flinders said: '-'One group ir Britain opposed the loan because i+ favoured tightened Empire organisa tfions and all the paraphernalia of a closed - economy. The other group favouring the loan joins us in working for a free world economy under which the peoples of the earth will enjoy greater freedom and prosperity."
