EMPIRE PRESS CONFERENCE
Received Wednesday, 7.20 p.m. LONDON, March 13. Mr. Attlee will open the sixth imperial Press Conference, to he helcl in London in June. Lord Harmsworth said it was extremely desirable to show the Dominions, India and the colonies, through the eyes oi their ^ newspaper chiefs, exactly hov. thmgs stood in Britain — the .damage suffered, repairs and reconstructior, achievecl and plans for rehabilitation. There will he two sessions of the conference in two groups. One group will deal with matters of general intercst; such as the Empire 's security, resources, trade'; migration and aleo 'the vital principles of Press freedom. The other group will deal with more techiucal matters concerning newspaper production. Arrangements have been made to transport and accommodate the 70 at tending the conference in a special train, with single-herth sleepers and cestanrant and observation cars, ior a 10-day tour of England and acotland. Lord Harmsworth, expressing satis t'action at the retention of the penny r, word Press rate, said no Press rate could be too low when balanced against the benehts from the unhindered excnange of information.
