Johnstone, the National Bartj candidate, from 194 votes to 30S votes over the Labour Party candidate, JVlr. A. C. Baxter.The Porees votes, which were received by the returning officer today, were 42 for Mr. Johnston and 40 for Mr. Baxter. Of the absentee, declaration -and postal votes, Mr. Johnstone received 379 and Mr. Baxter 285. The official figures, with the provisional ligures in parentheses, are: — Johnstone (National) 5043 (4(327) Baxter (Labour) .. 4735 (4433) Majority for Johnstone 308 (194) There were 28 infonnal votes.
