THE CENTAKI CUP

Six rinks from the Otaki Club journeyed to Petone during uit week-end to play for the Centaki cup and Tourists' trophy. The visitors were met and warmly welcomed by Mr. Tom Berry, presiuenc 01 tne club, General Young, presi'dent of the Otaki- Club, responcung. During the day, morning ano afternoon tea were served, and the Central players thanked for theii hospitality. Foliowing are results of the games, Central rinks being mentioned first in each instance:— Coulthard, Welphy, Riaiey, Lightowler (s ) ; beat McDougali, Puilman, Whitehorn, Siincox (s) 24/22. This was a game in which Otaki I established an early lead, but Ceni tral came with a late rush and won jscoring a five on one of the finish - ing heads. , 4 I Ciark, Senior, Fisher, May (s) ; drew with Matthews, Smith, Nicolson, Pike (s), 21 all. This game proved a most "interesting one, being ! flrst in favour of one and then the i other. Central had a lead of one on

the 24th head ("25 heads being played in each instance) , but Otaki scored on the final head to make the game a draw. Logan, Reeves, Campbell, McVean (s) ; beat McCarthy, Winterburn, Bartosh, Grey (s), 34 — 24. Central established an early lead and at one stage led 17— 2, but in the final stages Otaki made slight heaciway. ^ . Wainscott, Hatch, Green, Parker (s) ; lost to J. Noble, Keay, Baker, Walsh (s), 18—28. In this game Otaki players were at the heignt oi form, playing well, despite the iaci that Central played splenaid bowis. Sinclair, Barkley, Jim May, Berry (s ) ■ beat Buxton, Snowden, Evans, "Hurrell (s), 27—18. A good game, well won. ^ T1 curtin, Appleley, Aitchison, Bell s) lost to R.
