AUCKLAND, March 12. After delivering a lengthy oral judgmeht, in which he criticised the evidence of some of the witnesses for the prosecution, Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Police Court this morning, acquitted the wellknown trotting driver, Albert William Broughton, on a summons charge of being found without lawful excuse in a common gaming house. at 8 Partington Lane, on Feoruary 15. The prosecution, which began on Friday, created unprecedented interest, the court being packed Gnroughout the hearing. The case against Broughton was led by Senior-Detective Aplin, and Broughton, who pleaded not guilty, was defended by Mr. I. J. Goldstine.
