— KIMBERLEY RETURNED MEN ! On Saturday evening residents of ;the Kimberley district turned out !in full force to honoUr their returned servicemen at a welcome home function held in conjunction iwith the 13th birthday celebrations jof the Kimberley Women's InstiI tute. The settlers' hall was packed 1 i to capacity and dancing and musi- ; j cal items provided pleasant enter- , ! tainment. A piano duet was con- j itributed by Misses Trim and HudIson, and songs by Mrs. I. Tayloi' l and Mr. W. Duguid. ; At an opportune interval Mr. R. i Hagan expressed eVeryone's plea- ! sure at seeing so many boys present and he called on Mrs. R. W. EVans to welcome them. In doing so, Mrs. Evans said that the institute had sent parcels at Iregular intervals and extra cake at ; Christmas to each serviceman. Of j all the servicemen from the Kimberley district, only one had paid jthe supreme sacrifice, the late Mr. i H. cameron, while three others had been invalided home, Messrs. L. Mellor, S. Hunter and Jepson. Two servicemen, Flight-Lieuts. Griffith and Evans, had brought wives back with them from England, and everyone's best wishes were extended to these wai* brides- A welcome was aiso made to a member of the U.S.M.C., P.F.C. Libby,^ who had married a former Kimberley girl, Miss Denton. I Mrs. Evans then cut the institute's 13th birthday cake, after which dancing was continued until I midnight.
