PLANS FOR WITHDRAWAL
ALLIES AND THE LEVANT Reeeived Sunday, 8.30 p.m. PARIS, March 10. A Foreign Oflice spokesman announced that the British and r rench represen tativea had agreed that the British troops should fe withdrawn from Leb auon by the end of June, 1946, and the Prencli troops by the end of • March. 1947. The decisiom has. been communicated to the Lebanese Government. The British withdrawal will be carned out swif tly, as. the troops are mov mg, only a .short distance— into Pales tine. The French withdrawal will be slower because the troops must be repatriated to France by sea. The. French, in addition, have accuniulated large stores in the country. The 5,4o0 French troops at present in Lebanon are immediately withdrawing. froni the interior and qoncentrating; in Tripolx. The first repatriates will leave this. moiith.
