Pedestrian Injured
b.fuus inj ux'ieo were suffered by Marcus Levy, of Wellington, -early I on Saturday morning as the result of a collision with a car on thc Himatangi -I'oxton Road. It U imderstood that Mr. Levy, who was walking, attempced to signai a cai (which was traveiling in Hie direction of Palmerston North) to stop and he and the car came into coiiision. He was brought to Palmerston North Hospital'by ambulance. Examinations were being made by X-ray to determine the exaci, nature of his injuries, which alfected mainiy an arm, a leg anu the head. Maoris and Tuberculosis While he agreea uiat there was need lor iegisiation to give a greate. degree of control over recaleitrani tuberculosis patients, the senioi physician at the New Plymouth hospital, Dr. R. Wilson, said that he oelieved much could be achieved in deaiing with open cases among thc Maori people by education. Housing, he considered, was the worst factor, and one which he hopea, could be presented more clearly to the authorities when data had been eojlected. Dr. Wilson wa commenting upon the statements oi Mr. Justice Johnston in the Supreme C'ourt at New Plymoutr. that there was- some evidence of £ grave lack of control1 of patient with tuberculosis. His Honour cofitended that it had been shown tha. a very gravp condition of 'affiairp existed, and that in the interests. of the communi|iy and the Maoris _n particular that there should -be more control of natives wiri, tuberculosis. Fire On Railway Rridge .
