Personal Mr. Harry Ellison, after four years overseas, has returned to dnannon to take up a position with Mr. G. G. lVIitchell. Mr. Selwyn Franks, of Auckland, is visiting shannon, where he is the guest oi his brother, Mr. Noei j? 'ranks. Visitors from Levin, Otaki, Foxton and Palmerston North are expected at the Shannon Bowlmg Ciub's tournament over the weekcna. The friends of Mrs. Datson, wife of the Kev. J. H. Datson, will regret to learn that after a long illness she has found it necessary to enter a pnvate hospital at Palmerston North. ForthcomirTg Sports A committee meeting of the Shannon Sports Club was held the other evening, when final arrangements were made for its forthcdm.ng meeting. State Houses Started Or. \v. Clayton auvised members of the Shannon Borough Council on Fuesday evening that the timber for the construction of the new ocate houses in Shannon had arrived on the site in Grand Street, and the contractors had made a start on the buildings! Cyclists on Footpaths The number oi cyclists riding on footpaths was referred to at the fortnightly meeting of the Shannon Borough Council, and it was decided to ask the co-operation of the police in putting an end to the practice.
