A mexnber of the partnership said \ they had diseovered a six-foot seani ! starting on a plateau in the area and running back througix the Mokau Eange to conixeet with a State nxine !at Waitevvhena. Although work ixx the area had only started about two or ! tliree wecks ago, much had been accoxnipbshed, including 48 ehains of roading roxmd the slioulders of the hills. Living quarters had been prepared, tiinber cut, and prelinxinary surveys made. The nxine will be aix open-cast one and operated by a flume system, and will possibly be the first iix the North Island to use that system. The use bf water is the main feature in the system. All the men are "West Coasters,s', ' anj have had long assoeiation with the iudustry.
