TWENTY-FIVE YEARS' SERVICE

MR. R. W. JENKINS RETIRES At the last annual meeting of the Rahui Suppliers' Society, Mr. R. W. Jenkins, the chairman, announced his retirement trom active work on che committee. In recognition oi his twenty-live years' work for the society, the niembers decided to make him a presentation. This cook place a few days ago in the x'orm of a surprise party by the members of the present committee ji the society, each of whom was accompanied by his wife. They visited tne residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins at Te Horo. Mr. Walter Taylor, chairman, spoke very highly of Mr. Jenkins' services to the society, saying that, ne was its lirst secretary. He had also been vice-chairman, and finaliy chairman, so that the very satisfactory position of the suppliers to-day compared with that of twenty-five years ago, was a testimonial to the work of Mr. Jenkins and the earlier committees. On behalf of the suppliers, Mr. Taylor presented a beautiful silver dea service, with tray, to Mr. ana Mrs. Jenkins. In returnmg thanks, Mr. Jenkins recalled some very amusing episodes of the society's early days, and also paid tribute to the good work of the late Mr. Beauchamp and the late Mr. Will Taylor. Mrs. J eiiKins, m a few well chosen words, also expressed her appreciaDion of the gift. A very dainty supper brought a very enjoyable evening to a close.
