CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES

The Manawatu Bowling Centre's champion of champions singles tournament took place at Palmers•ton North on Saturday on the Northern Club's greens, which were running well. Despite a strong wind the piayers exhibited the : form for which they were chosen, and some exciting ends were witnessed . T. L. Arnott, consistent Palmersi ton North bowler, went through the senior singles championship with- | out a 'loss to win the title frorn ' Carston (Dannevirke). Wenham, doughty Levin player, beat Foster i (Manawatu) in the first round i 17 16 and Harriman (Terrace End1 in the second 19—16, but was eliminated in the semi-final by Carston 17—19: | Long, of Levin, playing sound ibowls, went through the Colts championship unbeaten to take the Ihonours. In the first round lie deIfeated Boote (Feilding) 21 — T2, and : in the second Hearsey (Takaro) 1 20 — 17. He beat Anscombe (Pahia|tua) 17- -12 in the semi-final and iKerr (Northern) 21—12 in the final.
