Personal Mr., and Mrs. Shannon, of Greymouth, are at present the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Jenkins. Mr Allan Berry, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Berry, left this mor rning for Christchurch, where he is enter-ing Canterbury University Canon Fry, who has spent a fortnight's holiday at the Sounds, has returned to Otaki benefited by his sojourn. Miss Adeline Gray daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Gray, of Otaki, is at present a nurse in a hospital in Rotorua. Nurse Holt, formerly at the emergency hospital at Otaki and now of Wellington, who has been spending a holiday in Otaki, has returned to the city. The wedding took place at the Basilica, Wellington, on Friday of Teresa Ann (Jean), youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. D'Ath, of Otaki, to Bruce Neville, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Dawe, of Kelburn. Father K. Lynch was the officiating minister. Mr. Raymond Parsons has left en route for the Wairarapa, but before proceeding there will spend a short time in Wellington. Mrs. Parsons will follow in the course of a few days' time. Both will carry with them the best wishes of a large circle of friends. For some years Mrs. Parsons has been a prominent exhibitor at flower shows in this district. A Dominion inspection of Red Cross voluntary aids, numbering about 500, from all parts of New Zealand, was held at Government House on Saturday afternoon. Her Excellency Lady Newall, as com-mander-in-chief took the salute at a march past. The inspection was in the nature of a farewell to Lady Newall, before she leaves the Dominion at the conclusion of Sir Cyri Newall's term as Governor-General Among those present was Miss J Margaret White, of Otaki. Two weddings were solemnised in Otaki on Saturday, when two popular young couples were joined in | holy bonds of matrimony. Mr. Ron Gurney, son bf Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Gurney, was married to Miss Verna Amelia Iggulden, of Te Horo, the ceremony taking place at the Anglican Church, Te Horo. Mr. George Oliver Gallyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gallyer, of California, U.S.A., was married to Miss Evelyn Jean Stevenson, only daughter of Mrs. D. Murphy, of Otaki Railway. The ceremony took place at St. Mary's Church, Otaki. A reception was afterwards held at the Parish Hall. Vital Statistics The vital statistics recorded at Otaki for February were as follows: — Deaths: European 1, Maori 3 ; births : European 12, Maori 3 ; marriage notices 7.
Garden Party .The Otaki Methodist Church Womens' Auxiliary held a very subcessful garden party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Synnott, Waerenga Road, recently, when the sum of £18 was raised for missions. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent. The stalls did good business while competitions were indulged in. The Rev, W. B. Pickering, in well-chosen words, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Synnott for opening up their home and garden for such a | worth-while object.
