LOCAL AND GENERAL

Personal Mr. Graham Spring, R.N.Z.N., arrived back in Shannon over the week-end. A visitor to Shannon is Mr. A. Doak, formerly of the R.N.Z.A.F. Mr. Doak is from the South Island. Mr. Allen Bell has returned to Shannon after undergoing an operation in the Palmerston North Hospital. Local Boys Return - A large crowd gathered in the Mangaore Hall last Thursday evening to welcome home more of Mangaore's returning servicemen. This time they were Messrs. F. Callison, M. Cowley, A. Symes and M. - Barkley. Mr. J. D. Campbell extended a welcome to the boys and called upon Miss Murdoch to present a bouquet to Mrs. Symes. The evening was spent in dancing to music supplied by Miss D. Woods and Mr. K. Thompson.
