GOLF CLUB OUT OF RECESS
The annual meeting of the Buckley Golf Club was held in Laurvig's Hall recently. In the absence of the president, Mr. Cronquest (vicepresident) presided over a fair attendance. Mr Cronquest advised those present that the club was holding its first annual meeting for four years, having been in recess since 1942 owing to the war. The minutes of the last general meeting were read and confirmed. Some weeks ago a special meeting was held to test the feeling of the public as to the reopening of the club. — This meeting brought forward several recommendations which were quoted as the business of the evening. A motion that the club be reopened was moved by Mr. H. Pope and carried. To enable all at the meeting to vote, the following were proposed and elected as new members: Mr. and Mrs. Boon, Mr. Karena and Mr. V. Tippler. Other new members, not at the meeting, were proposed and elected. They were: Mr. R. Collins, Mr. Birch, Mr. T. Roach, Mr. J. Purcell and Mr. J. Chambers. At this stage a vote of thanks was moved to Mr. R. Wilson for his efforts in the past, and also for the work he had done in causing the club to be re-opened. The following officers were elected for the year: — Patron: Mr. J. Stern, Snr. ; president: Mr. C. Cronquest; vice-president: Mr. R. S. Downes; club captain: Mr. R Harding; vice-captain: Mr. H Pope; secretary and treasurer: Mr. R. Wilson; committee: Messrs. F. Picard, N. Birch and T. Boon; handicap committee. Messrs. R. Harding, H.
