Waitemata’s Mayor goes commercial
PA Auckland Television viewers will be seeing the Mayor of Waitemata, Mr Tim Shadbolt, on their screens regularly within a month. Mr Shadbolt has signed up to do television commercials. The money he receives, will go towards paying off the $40,000 debt he incurred after a recent defamation case. Mr Shadbolt’s agent, a council colleague, Mr Gary Taylor, will not say what the Mayor will be advertising.
He sent letters to about 35 advertising agencies in Auckland offering Mr Shadbolt’s services for a product endorsement or
advertising role. They were told the product had to be acceptable and the advertisement done with taste and style. It was to enhance rather than detract from Mr Shadbolt’s image.
