National polo

Ashley and Ashburton A recorded relatively comfortable wins on the second day of the national polo tournament in Culverden yesterday. Ashley, with a handicap rating of eight, easily fended off the challenge of Blenheim B to win, 8-3. Ashburton A, which had crushed Blenheim B on Thursday, had a tougher battle before emerging a 4-2 winner over Amur! A.

Those results leave Ashburton As as the only unbeaten team in section one of the Lion Brown sponsored tournament.

Ashburton B had its second consecutive win in section B, beating Hawke’s Bay, 6-4. In the other match, Blenheim A beat Amuri B, 8-2. The matches were played in heavy conditions. Play will continue today and end tomorrow.
