Minister offers pay review

OLIVER RIDDELL

and PA Traffic officers last evening called off their threats of industrial action after the Minister of Transport, Mr Prebble, said he would review their pay dispute. The review would be made with the Minister of State Services, Mr Rodger, and would be reported to the Cabinet policy committee on February 25. Mr Prebble said Public Service Association representatives had undertaken to recommend to traffic officers that the threat of

action be lifted to enable a review to be made. Transport Ministry officers threatened to distcontinue random stopping, . driver testing for licences, driving .instructor testing, and had considered a variety of ban during the Royal visit in support of their 15.5 per cent increase demands. Industrial action was to begin on Monday. The review would be done in conjunction with the Minister of State Services, Mr Rodger, and the result reported to the Cabinet policy committee on February 25.
