Goats bought via video
New Zealand buyers paid a total of $275,000 for Angora goats at the first trans-Tasman video goat auction, held last week by Elders Pastoral, Ltd. ' '
The sale was based in Melbourne and the auctioneer was linked by telephone to Hamilton, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney,
Hobart and Brisbane. Videos of the stock were viewed simultaneously by bidders, and bids were relayed to the auctioneer in Melbourne. Eighty-eight goats were offered. Top price was $27,000 for an Australian entry bought by Mr and Mrs Gill Beven, of Hamilton.
