Moffat selected

PA Auckland Four of the country’s best professional bowlers will be joined by the outstanding Christchurch amateur, Morgan Moffat, in a strong New Zealand team to play Australia in a three-test series at Matamata next month. The team to play at the Rewa Club on March 2123 is Peter Beiliss (Wanganui), Rowan Brassey (Auckland), Moffat (Christchurch), Jack Somerville (Waikato) and Nick Unkovich (Auckland). Beiliss will play the singles, Beiliss and Moffat the pairs, Brassey, Somerville and Unkovich the triples and Brassey, Moffat, Somerville and Unkovich the fours.

Moffat has been left out of the South Island team to play the North Island at the Kensington Club in Whangarei on March 15 and 16. The South Island selectors have also omitted the top singles player, lan Dickison. The teams are:— North Island: Slight (Aramoho), Murtagh (Paritutu), Mike Martinovich (Kensington), Symes (Hawera Park), David Reid (Hillsboro), Nairn (Papakura), Peter Shaw (Manawatu) and John Leitch (Upper Hutt). South Island: McConnell (Dunedin), Les Morrison (South Otago), Bill Kane (Southland), Terry Scott (Dunedin), Gary Pascoe (West Coast), Peter Webb (Marlborough), Ken Watson (Christchurch) and Graham Stanley (Christchurch).
