Canty gliders win
PA Hamilton Christchurch pilots performed well in the sixth round of the national gliding championships at Waharoa, on Wednesday. Ray Lyndskey won the open class and Terry Delore the racing class. In the open event, the first four finished within 15 minutes of each other. Only two minutes separated Lynskey and Tony Timmermans (Auckland), who was second. One minute divided the third and fourth placegetters, Richard Halstead (Wellington) and Peter Heginbotham (Wellington).
In the standard class, seven minutes covered the first four. Ivan Evans (Nelson) was first, five minutes clear of Max Stevens (Wellington), Nigel McPhee (Auckland) and Tony van Dyk (Wellington). Delore further increased his lead in the racing class. He is now over 500 .points ahead of his nearest rival, a fellow Christchurch pilot Terry Newfield. Results; —
