FRIDAY Avondale JANDERINO (Race 7), b m, 4yrs by Balmerino—Jandell; trained at Takanini by C. M. Jiilings. Has raced most consistently in the last two and a half months without a win, but looks overdue for a win- • ning run in this. CAMBRIDGE STARCHASER (Race 9), b f, 3yrs by Smooth Fella — Honey Chase; trained at Pukekohe by L. C. Purdon. Bold first-up second to Davron at Cambridge on January 24 after starting from the second row. Favourably drawn this time and should go one better. SATURDAY Matamata ALYNDA (Race 8), ch f, 2yrs by Nassau—Betty Box; trained at Cambridge by A. L. Jones. Brilliant filly which should keep her unbeaten record intact tomorrow in spite of strong opposition. New Brighton UNCLE JASPER (Race 8), b c, 3yrs, by Boyden Han-over-Belle Chasse; trained at Yaldhurst by P. C. Blackmore. Narrowly beaten by a talented youngstar in Kotare Sterling on Wednesday. Back to open handicap racing he should come out on top. Otago NOBLE NOTE (Race 5), b fl, 6yrs by Noble Bijou—Stop Press; trained at Riccarton by J. E. Bourne. Impressive last start sprint win at Riccarton suggests that he will repeat last year’s triumph in this event tomorrow. Poverty Bay CLONDESTINE (Race 7), b m, 4yrs by Gold BrickFun Lass; trained at Cambridge by S. C. Lucock. Scored by seven lengths on the first day of the meeting on Wednesday. Highly rated four-year-old which scored a stylish last start win at Tauherenikau. Should score again tomorrow.
