Dye spilt in drains
Green dye was accidentally spilt into the stormwater drains from the Christchurch Drainage Board’s Hazeldean Road depot at noon yesterday, said the board’s deputy chief engineer, Mr Don Cooper. "The dye is harmless and would have flowed out to sea along the Avon River within hours,” he said. “We use it to check for leaking pipes in various parts of the city.”
