Appointment appeal fails
PA Wellington An appeal against the appointment of Mr Tony Johns as director of the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs has been rejected. The appeal was filed by an applicant who was short-listed for the job, Mr Api Rongo-Raea, and heard by the Public Service Appeal Board. He appealed on the ground that Mr Johns was not a Pacific Islander. Mr Johns, a pakeha, has received the board’s 14page decision.
