Chch bowlers take title
PA Dunedin Bernie Johns and Graham Stanley (Christchurch) beat the St Clair pair of Don Stuart and lan Dickison, 20-9, in the final of the “Otago Daily Times” Champion Pairs bowls tournament at Dunedin on Monday. Johns and Stanley were playing together for the first time and the win enhances Stanley’s chances of selection for the Edinburgh Commonwealth Games.
Results:— Quarter finals: R. Hunt and ° B. McNish (Christchurch) beat G. Swale and W. Kane 4 (North End) 19-17; D. Stuart s and I. Dickison (St Clair) beat N. Thom and K. Darling (Caversham), 19-9; G. Hawken and M. Symes (Taranaki) beat I. Kostanich and N. Grgicevich (Auckland), 20-14; B. Johns and G. 9 Stanley (Christchurch) beat •» P. Kean and T. Scott (NorthEast Valley), 22-7. Semi-finals: Stanley beat Symes, 19-9; Dickison beat ~ McNish, 24-12. Final: Stanley ’ b Dickison 20-9.
