Concert series

The School of Music of the University of Canterbury has planned a series of three evening recitals during the first term of 1986.

Two of these recitals will be presented by the trio of artists in residence, the newly appointed violinist Jan Tawroszewicz, the cellist Walter Godde and the pianist Maurice Till

The works to be included in their programmes include trios such as the Beethoven D major, the Schubert E flat and the Dvorak F minor. Other interesting but rarely performed works are the Chopin Trio and the Grieg C minor violin sonata.

The other recital in the series will be presented

by the Christchurch born pianist Richard Mapp who, for the last 10 years, has lived in London.

Richard Mapp has received outstanding reviews in the major London newspapers for his recent solo recitals.

Along with music by Franck, Martinu, SaintSaens, Liszt and Debussy, Mr Mapp will play “Silhouette,” a work by the Christchurch composer Chloe Moon. These three recitals will be presented in the Christchurch Town Hall — the trio recitals in the James Hay Theatre and the piano recital in the Auditorium. The trio concertos will be on March 3 and May 5, the Richard Mapp concert on March 24.
