President’s son in TV take-off

NZPA-AP New York Ron Reagan Jun. has hosted “Saturday Night Live,” opening the N.B.C. comedy show by dancing in his briefs playing a broom like a rock ’n’ roll guitar in a take-off from the movie, “Risky Business.”

The opening skit had the son of President Ronald Reagan romping through the White House in his underwear and shirttails, just after his parents — Randy Quail as the President and Terry Sweeney in drag as Nancy Reagan — called him from Camp David. In his opening monologue, the younger Reagan asked the audience whether they thought he was picked to host the show because he was recently hired as a contributing editor of “Playboy” magazine. The live audience responded with light applause. He followed up that question with: “How many people here think that I was asked to host the show because my father is the President of the United States?” That got a response of yells and whistles.
