Cost of living
Sir,—l have to support R. Dower (January 29) with comments on the cost of living. The recent reduction in the Consumer Price Index is surely unreal. Those of us who shop weekly to feed and clothe our families will be well aware of the same weekly increases — not decreases! The lifting of sales tax on such items as videos, computers, etc., does little to reduce the family budget. .1 am surprised there has been very little reaction to the recent “drop” in the cost of living.— Yours, etc., (Mrs) M. E. MARR. February 4, 1986.
