Lendl, Lloyd top seeds

Ivan Lendl, of Czechoslovakia, and an American, Chris Evert Lloyd, as expected, have been selected as the top seeds In the International Players Tennis Championships which begins tomorrow.
In a departure from past practice, 32 players were seeded in the men’s field of 128 while the usual 16 seeds were selected in the women’s field of 128.
Lendl, the No. 1 ranked player in the world and
defending U.S. Open champion, was followed in the seedings by Mats Wilander, ot Sweden, Jimmy Connors, Boris Becker, of West Germany, and Stefan Edberg, of Sweden. Lloyd, ranked second in the world, topped a women’s field diluted by the absence of the topranked Martina Navratilova, the defender, the world’s No. 3, Hana Mandlikova of Czechoslovakia, the U.S. Open winner, and the No. 5, Claudia Kohde-Kilsch, of West Germany.
