Archon dominates yachting
Archon, owned by Alan and Warwick Archer, dominated the annual 40 mile Spencer Park yacht race for keelers, sailed on Saturday.
It led from the start with Natural Magic, Ivan Atkinson’s Farr 11.6 m design yacht, but had little trouble in keeping clear of the 14-strong fleet for an over-all win of seven minutes. Second was Southern Fun (McMillan Group) seven minutes back.
The race was run in two divisions with a close contest developing throughout in the second.
Ivanhoe, which led the fleet earlier, became locked in a three-way tussle with Truce and Athenea, the latter being first around the Spencer Park buoy. However, Truce made up ground on the last leg and passed Athenea to take line honours. Results.—
