Pupil, 10, brings gun
NZPA staff correspondent Washington A boy, aged 10, has been suspended from school in Washington for bringing a loaded automatic pistol to class. The gun was found stored in a pencil box in his desk. The boy told police and school officials that he took the gun to his. primary school to protect himself from other children who had attacked him after his bus-ride home. He was probably the youngest pupil to take a gun to school, said Mr Peter Blauvelt, chief of security services for the Prince Georges County school system. Last year 143 students were expelled from schools in the county for possession of a weapon. At primary schools seven weapons, including six knives and a starter pistol, were found.
