FOREST SERVICE SAMBAR DEER MANAGEMENT PLAN DRAFT PUBLIC comment is being sought on a draft plan for the management of the sambar deer herd occupying a range through coastal and lowlands areas of Wanganui, Rangitlkei, Manawatu and Horowhenua. Because the draft plan proposes species management rather than land area management, future management of sambar deer may affect all landowners on whose land sambar deer are present from time to time. The plan may be viewed at Forest Service conservancy offices at Auckland, Rotorua, Palmerston North, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill, and at Head Office — Bowen Street, Wellington, at Wanganui and Masterton District Offices and at Santoft and Waitarere Forest Headquarters.
