Central Library, Chemistry Division, and Physics and Engineering Laboratory libraries amalgamated and moved into a new building — the D.S.I.R. Library Centre. The centre is the largest scientific library in New Zealand and makes extensive use of automation. Responsible for the planning, organisation and management of a section of 5 staff. Serials section receives, displays, operates current awareness services including circulations, and manages the collection of some 6000 current serials acquired by the centre. The appointee will be expected to plan, promote and implement effective serials management systems for the centre; review procedures and policies for gift and exchange material; and assist with the implementation of new automated systems. QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma in Librarianship or equivalent. Experience with serials and some appreciation of library automation is desirable. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
