Caravan gift to Prince Philip

An education caravan to promote the work of the World Wildlife Fund will be presented to Prince Philip when he visits the Peacock Springs conservation park at Harewood on March 1. As world president of the World Wildlife Fund, Prince Philip will accept the caravan on behalf of the fund’s New Zealand branch.

The caravan has video equipment and a public address system and will be taken to schools and shows throughout New Zealand.

The caravan and its facilities are the gift of the Isaac Wildlife Trust which runs the 120 ha Peacock Springs.

A “pit to pasture” programme has turned 40 hectares of barren wasteland into a park for wildfowl, rare sheep, ponies, and exotic animals.

Prince Philip will also be presented with a bronze tuatara as a personal memento of his visit to the park.
