‘Go easy’ plea on loading code

PA Auckland Truck firms expect traffic officers to “go easy” on them while they get used to a strict new load securing code The president of the Northern Regional Road Transport Association, Mr Peter Lever, said the code had been introduced “fairly smartly” and some drivers did not fully understand it.

“I expect them (traffic

officers) to be tolerant for a while, while people come to grips with it,” he said.

His association was hoping to employ a regional training officer to run load-securing courses at trucking yards but finance had yet to be approved.

Mr Lever said the industry and the Ministry of Transport could have different interpretations of the code.
