W. Australia softball tour
Two former Burnside club softballers, Alan Hall and Lindsay Anderson, are among the players in the Western Australian men’s state side which will arrive in Christchurch today for a tour of the South Island. Both Anderson and Hall pitch for Western Australia, though they specialised more as infielders in their
Christchurch
Anderson, in fact, played third base for New Zealand before moving to Perth in 1981. Like his state colleague he is a dynamic batter. His older brother, Graeme, still plays for bumside and Canterbury.
The Australians will begin their tour tomorrow with a double-header
in Ashburton against Canterbury and Mid-Canter-bury. Singapore, meanwhile, will tour the North Island and that team, together with Western Australia, a New Zealand emerging players team and the New Zealand world champion boys’ under-19 side are scheduled to meet in a round-robin tournament from February 22-23.
