Unique Wendy too good
Special correspondent Oamaru
Unique Wendy had her second win since being served by Don Baker when she finished boldly wide out from mid-field at the 300 m to win the Oamaru Handicap at the Oamaru Trotting Club’s meeting yesterday. An eight-year-old mare by Spiy from Unique Song, she is owned and trained at Winchmore by Peter Boag. A farmer, he has been breeding and racing horses with the prefix Unique for about 12 years. Unique Princess, the winner of six races, is his best performer. The former jockeys, Tony Robb and Ron Weaver, teamed successfully when Soubriquet won the Gillies Pace.
The four-year-old mare is prepared at Willowby by Robb, who took out a trainer’s licence this season. He has won two races with Sea King. Weaver races Soubriquet with Noel Rodden and Lindsay Young, of Invercargill.
