Eb’s Bo beats Sir Alba

Special correspondent Oamaru

Eb’s Bo beat tbe bot favourite, Sir Alba, with a powerful finishing burst in the Speight’s Stakes heat at the Oamaru Trotting Club’s meeting yesterday. Eb’s Bo was having bis second start for Ross Dynes, the Ryal Bush trainer, who bought the Bogart Hanover — Ebony Jane gelding from the Alpha Syndicate and Vic Harrex after he had finished second .at Addington Raceway last month. Eb’s Bo then ran third to Borderline and French Lord at Forbury Park. He was the lone drive yesterday for the Dynes stable horseman, Earl Swain.

Eb’s Bo was first out and trailed at the 1880 m when Floyd went to the front.

Sir Alba was a clear leader at the 100 m but Eb’s Bo finished boldly to win by half a length. Sir Alba had improved three wide from back in the field to sit outside the leader at the 1200 m and looked to have the race in safe keeping. The well-supported Trifecta was a mediocre fifth. He trailed mid-field but lacked dash when pulled out to challenge entering the stretch.
