Record to Stead
David Stead has displaced the late lan Cromb as the holder of most catches for Canterbury in first-class .cricket. Long regarded as one of the safest slips fieldsmen in New Zealand cricket, Stead began the present Shell Trophy com-
petition with 63 catches, three less than Cromb’s record. He established a new mark when he caught Justin Boyle from the bowl-
ing of Craig Thiele in the second innings of the match against Wellington at Lancaster Park earlier this week.
