Youth to put on Royal display
Young people from throughout > Canterbury will put on a “Youth in Action” display for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on March 1. More than 6000 people between five and 25 years of age will gather in Queen Elizabeth II Park for the event
Participants include the Scout Association, the Girl Guides Association, the Boys’ Brigade, the Girls’ Brigade, the Y.M.C.A. and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. These organisations comprise
the Association of Canterbury Youth Groups, which is arranging the event One of the day’s main features will be a display of “New Games” using earthballs and parachutes. The theme of “Youth in Action” will be based on peace, participation, and development. No charge will be made for the event, and families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. Souvenir programmes will be available.
The parade of youth groups will begin at 9.25 a.m.
