Hovercraft support
PA Auckland Hovercraft experts from throughout the world have been asked to support the case for the reinstatement of the rescue craft at Auckland International Airport. , The Wellington lawyer, Mr Bruce Bomholdt, has been appointed to review the Government decision to withdraw the SRN6
hovercraft from service.
The crash fire representative, Mr Bob Halligan, said the rescue firemen at Mangere were happy with the selection of Mr Bornholdt. Four other potential reviewers had been rejected by the Government, or staff unions. The Minister of Transport, Mr Richard Prebble,
asked Mr Bornholdt to review the evidence for the retention, or permanent withdrawal, of the hovercraft because it was a safety issue, and not a political argument. Mr Halligan said several representatives of leading international hovercraft companies and technical experts had agreed to give evidence for the firemen.
