Trident nominated
By JEFF SCOTT Not to be outdone by the Australian trainer, Vin Knight, and Smooth Falcon, the Edendale trainer Brian O’Meara has nominated his top three-year-old Trident for the Golden Jubilee InterDominion Pacing Championships at Albion Park, Brisbane, on April 5, 9,12 and 19. The nomination is not “fair dinkum” at this stage, however. O’Meara is merely just keeping his options open with last season’s Two-year-old Pacer of the Year, which will begin a fresh campaign at the Canterbury Park meeting on Friday. “Trident is unlikely to go as the Lion Brown Northern Derby is run the day before the Inter-Dominion Final, but his trainer has decided to nominate him in the meantime,” said Paul Wilkins, the assistant public relations officer for the New Zealand Trotting Conference, who is taking the New Zealand entries for the series. O’Meara has also nominated the speedy ._£! pacer, Really Honkin, series.
