Wendy nickname shaken?
PA Auckland The Leader of the Opposition, Mr McLay, says he has shaken his “Wendy” nickname — so much so that he often eats at a hamburger restaurant chain by the same name. Mr McLay and his wife, Marcy, had no qualms about joining the queue at Wendy’s on Friday evening to order drinks and two taco salads, although some customers did stare. Asked whether he thought it ironic that he — dubbed Wendy when a political columnist confused his Peter Pan characters — was eating at Wendy’s, he replied: “It was my nickname, it seems to have died though. “After we’ve been doing some shopping we like to come here,” he said.
