Kodak to give new products for old

PA Wellington Owners of Kodak instant cameras will be able to exchange them for other Kodak products later this year. Kodak was ordered to stop producing and marketing instant photography products on January 9, after a 10 year-old legal battle with Polaroid over alleged patent infringements. Although the injunction applies only in the United States, Kodak’s management has decided the company will leave the

instant photography business. Supplies of Kodak instant film are expected to last another six to nine months. Kodak instant cameras have been withdrawn from sale, and the Kodak instant camera sales manager, Mr Lynton Barriball, said a compensation offer to camera owners would be announced by the end of March. Twelve thousand of the cameras have been sold in New Zealand since 1979, and an estimated 5000 are still in use.
