Hellemans wins DB triathlon

PA Wellington John Hellemans of Christchurch won the Double Brown triathlon series when he ran away with the third and final leg at Wellington’s Oriental Bay on Saturday. Hellemans was fourth after the I.skm swim but completed the 40km cycle section in Ih 3min 19s, almost two minutes faster than his nearest rival, then ran 10km in 35min 19s to win the event by Bmin 335. Aucklander Rose Henry was the first woman home in 2h 21min 575, 29th overall. She missed the first leg of the Double Brown series allowing Christine Horrocks of Auckland, who finished second yesterday, to take over-all honours.
