Wet end to N.Z. trip
PA Auckland Champagne and rain sprayed the crew of two inflatable boats when they landed on Takapuna Beach in Auckland after 29 days circumnavigating New Zealand. The four men in the boats were Air Force servicemen who on Saturday completed Operation Searider, an expedition to raise funds for the proposed R.N.Z.A.F. Museum at Wigram. “It feels terrific to be back,” said Norm Cook, a general service hand. “I’m looking forward to sleeping in my own bed.”
The expedition raised $3500, but an Air Force spokesman said that once sponsorship proceeds had come through the total would be more like $lO,OOO. 4
