Knife thrower gets too close
PA Rotorua It was ninth time unlucky for a circus performer, Larry Roper, on Saturday when his knifethrowing partner nicked him in a practice session at Rotorua.
The knife-thrower, Jenny Conway, was making her ninth throw after
a few months rest when she hit her partner of seven years in the arm. The cut at first appeared to be a graze, then began to spurt blood. After three stitches were put in Mr Roper’s arm the couple went ahead with their ropethrowing and performing
dog acts in a matinee performance for Whirling Brothers Circus. After the show Ms Conway said she had no idea what had caused the mishap but suggested the break-out earlier this week by three of the
circus lions might have contributed. The Hons were captured after a two-hour hunt In spite of his Initial shock that the slip nicked his left bicep, Mr Roper said the pair remained friendly. J :; . ?
