Wild cat mauls woman
PA New Plymouth An elderly New Plymouth woman was badly mauled by a wild cat on Thursday evening before her. own pet f cat, George, helped to drive off the attacker. Mrs Winifred Miles, aged 83, had both forearms slashed open, leaving an artery exposed
on one. The wild cat leapt at Mrs Miles from some flowers by the back door of her home. Her own cat, George, came to her rescue and all three fought on the lawn. Mrs Mlles hit her attacker with a jandal. She was discharged from Taranaki Base Hos-
pital yesterday with both arms bandaged, still shaken by the incident New Plymouth’s S.P.C.A. probationary officer, Mr Gordon Denholm, said it was?; the worst injury he had known a cat to inflict. He will set an opossum cage to try to trap the cat and destroy it.
