Woman crippled in accident

PA Auckland A young man completely destroyed and devastated a woman’s life by bls foolish driving, a District Court judge has said. Craig Charles Soar, aged 19, admitted in the District Court at Henderson a charge of driving dangerously causing injury to Rachael Anderson. Mrs Anderson had been told she would probably not walk again as a result of the accident.

Judge J. D. O’Donovan said Soar had pulled out of a petrol station under hard acceleration, losing control of . the rear of his car. He hit Mrs Anderson’s vehicle which was travelling in the opposite direction. The judge sentenced him to 12 months periodic detention and disqualified him from driving for 12 months. “It is not a soft option; the sentence will prove great hardship,’’ he said.
