■ INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS EXECUTIVE Our client is a major New Zealand industrial operation, with a large workforce and considerable contribution to the national economy. These factors give a strategic importance to the Industrial Relations function which places this position at the forefront of its profession. The appointment carries responsibility for direct negotiation with several unions, plus contribution to the company's long-term industrial relations planning. Continuing development of Line Managers' industrial relations awareness and skills will be given a high priority. This position requires extensive experience as an IR specialist, in other management roles involving IR, or in advocacy for either employers or unions. Emphasis will be placed on an effective combination of knowledge and experience. The appointees must be strong in strategic appreciation of IR situations and capable of defining and achieving both short-term and long-term goals. Preferred age is around 40 years, but younger candidates with well-proven abilities are encouraged to apply.
